Things to do in Hoi An

The ancient town of Hoi An, 30 km south of Danang, lies on the banks of the Thu Bon River. Occupied by early western traders, Hoi An was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century.

Hoi An has a distinct Chinese atmosphere with low, tile-roofed houses and narrow streets; the original structure of some of these streets still remains almost intact. All the houses were made of rare wood, decorated with lacquered boards and panels engraved with Chinese characters. Pillars were also carved with ornamental designs.

Hoi An is a such a small city that it can be even easily explored on foot. There are several tourists’ attractions, shops, and gastronomic delights to accompany you on your trek around the city. Simply keep wandering in the age old temples, or spend a few lazy hours sipping on a steaming cup of tea or coffee in an open air café, or pick up a souvenir from the curios, you would find a new flavor in everything you do in Hoi An. Delving into the exotic cuisines of Hoi An in a restaurant will only make you more hungry.

There are several tourists’ attractions in Hoi An. The most popular ones are the Old Heritage Town, My Son, Japanese Covered Bridge, Museums of History and Culture, Quan Kong Temple, Tran Family Home & Chapel, and Old House of Tan Ky.
